Spreading Smiles, One Meal at a Time

Meals provided to the community

Each year, Advoco hosts a conference in Greenville, SC called Connect. This conference brings together the Infor EAM community to connect, learn, and grow together. Because of COVID-19, we knew that we could not have an in-person event for the 2020 conference. With the move to a virtual event, the money that was usually spent on feeding attendees and staff was left on the table. And so, an idea was born: Connect for Good GVL. Starting with funds from the conference, we partnered with local catering company Table 301 and other local organizations to build this initiative. Our goal was to create restaurant jobs as well as feed people in need in Greenville. For an entire year, we partnered with local vendors and  non-profit organizations to maximize our reach in the community. The world continues to change, and Connect for Good will change along with it! Stay tuned for what’s coming next and how you can be involved.

COVID-19 changed the way we do things, but it also started something special.

Community Impact & News

Advoco is an enterprise asset management solutions company headquartered here in Greenville. Each year, the company hosts a conference during which about 2,000 meals are served to attendees. As the conference was canceled this year, Advoco used the existing funds to partner with Table 301 + other organizations in the community to provide thousands of boxed meals to workers at Prisma Health and St. Francis, as well as those at Tower East, United Ministries, and Project Host.

Today, I’d like to share some info on a partnership that we’ve been lucky to participate in with several other local businesses called “Connect for Good”. It started with an idea pitched to me by Marty Osborn of Advoco. The idea was to get meals and meal kits to be made at home to those with food needs, those struggling, and to first responders. Three weeks into the program, we have prepared and helped to distribute 2450 meals to the following locations; Towers East, United Ministries, Project Host, Trinity Lutheran backpack buddies, Prisma Healthcare and St. Francis Healthcare workers. These smiles are why we all do the things we do.

I wanted to write to say a huge thanks to your church for the snack bags you have provided for the families we serve during the pandemic. We have had the privilege of passing them out to so many mothers who have expressed their gratitude for the food, but more importantly for the general support and love that it provides! It is a gift for us to pass along your generosity to families in our community who are especially vulnerable during this time. Thank you so much for the work you are doing in Greenville! We are so grateful for our partnership.

Sincerely, Logan Chandler

On behalf of the Columbia VA Health Care System patients and staff, we would like to extend our appreciation to you for your donation of boxed meals provided for Veterans.

It is through the efforts of community partners like you that allow us to continue the quality care and services that we seek to provide our deserving Veterans. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you again in the future.

Sincerely,

Robert K. Welton
