When Your Work Speaks for Itself...Don't Interrupt

I was looking out of my office window recently, and I saw a van drive by from a signage company. The writing on the vehicle caught my eye. On the side of the van was the prophetic statement, “When your work speaks for itself, don’t interrupt.” Wow, what an impactful thought!
Often in business we are bombarded with people pitching themselves. We are forced to sit through a barrage of what they have done or what they are going to do; how it should be or how they will change things. In this sea of pitches, I’ve found that the most effective way to stand out is to simply let your actions speak for themselves.
After all, who are the people that get remembered for their work? The people who go out and take chances and are actually getting the work done. These are the people who execute their vision instead of just talking about it. And then, once the current task at hand is complete, they are ready to move on to the next. Without great fanfare for their previous work, they jump into the next project. These people let their work speak for itself and don’t interrupt.
There is so much to be done and not enough good people to do it. Are you the person talking about what you’re going to do or are you the person who goes out and gets it done?
