Outside Eyes

If I’m not working with EAM and helping customers get the most from their systems with the Advoco Part of Accenture PI team, you can find me on my farm, tending to the animals and machinery.
When most people think about farms, the first thing they think of is the animals. And while we do have quite a few of those (including some new calves born this Spring!) farms also come with lots of machinery. I could write a whole aMinute just on the machinery involved with keeping the farm running and how EAM can help with preventive maintenance.
But that’s not what this is about – well not entirely.
Recently, our tractor started acting up. We were at our wits end trying to figure out what was going on with it. We had tried just about everything we could think of to get it working again, but try as we might, nothing was working. We finally resigned to the fact that we were going to have to take the tractor to the mechanic to get fixed.
But before we could do that, we had a friend over to visit. He took one look at the tractor and immediately identified the issue. He hadn’t even been looking at it for five minutes and he knew exactly what was wrong!
While I was glad to not have to take the tractor to the mechanic to be fixed, there was also a larger lesson to be learned here. And that lesson is – sometimes all it takes is an outside set of eyes.
Sometimes when a project is difficult or a situation is overwhelming, we can’t find the end or the solution. We’re too close to the problem to get a full picture of what’s going on. Sometimes all it takes is an outside set of eyes. That’s why teammates are so important! We need to lean on our team to be that outside set of eyes.
The next time you feel like you can’t find the answer, recruit another set of eyes! I bet you’ll be surprised how quickly they can help you find a solution.
Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.

About Michelle: It’s hard to find someone that doesn’t like Michelle – she’s easy to talk to, she’s a wealth of knowledge about EAM, she’s relatable, and to top it all off, she’s fun to be around! Her Infor EAM life started at a university that used the product to manage facilities. She has since built up and manages our Post Implementation Consulting team. When Michelle isn’t helping our customers, you can find her in her garden preparing vegetables for canning or touring the Upstate on her motorcycle! Have a question for Michelle? Send her an email!
