There's More Than Enough to Go Around

I was watching a show on Hulu the other night, and I’ll admit I have the most basic subscription. Sitting through the advertisements reminded me how you can’t turn on the TV without hearing some special, limited time offer that will only be around for a few more minutes.

How many times have you been exposed to deals, sales, and special products that you’re pushed to “take advantage of” right away? It’s the scarcity principle – when there’s a limited supply of goods, coupled with high demand, there’s a mismatch between supply and demand. The goods become scarce. The scarcity principle isn’t just a phenomenon with goods. It also happens with human capital – like skills, knowledge, or experiences.

I don’t adhere to the scarcity principle, especially when it comes to human capital. There’s more than enough to go around, and my hope is that others will start to think this way.

Some examples at Advoco are our live and on-demand webinars, our Advoco Connectors LinkedIn page, and our a-Minute series. We want to invite everyone to the table to take part in continued education – and this isn’t a deal you need to “take advantage of” before it goes away.

Creating a community and sharing ideas are two very important components to everyone’s success. I believe that together we win. For us, bringing stakeholders and users together to have fruitful discussions is essential because there’s always something new for us to learn.

Learning isn’t a limited resource, and it’s okay to give it away for free. You’ll never run out of it, and you can never have too much of it.

Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
