A Holiday Smile

During the holidays, it’s pretty easy to get wrapped up (pun intended) in our to-do lists. We’ve got parties to attend, gifts to buy and wrap, travel to plan and pack for. The list never seems to end.

In a time when we’re focused on the people close to us like family and friends, we can sometimes neglect the people we bump into while we go about our daily business.

I recently got an email from a customer that ended with “Put a smile on the face of those around you.”

What a powerful thought – especially during the holiday hustle.

What if, while we are rushing around decking our halls, and brimming with holiday cheer, we stopped to intentionally make someone smile?

I’m not talking about your friend you get a gift for, or your child you bake cookies with. I’m talking about the cashier at the department store who has been dealing with the holiday rush. Or the Salvation Army bell ringer who might be getting overlooked as you rush to get to your car and get out of the cold. Or maybe it’s that coworker who you don’t usually stop to chat with.

What if you took some time to intentionally make someone smile? A kind word, a joke, or just a listening ear goes a long way, and not just during the holiday season.

When I got that email, a smile was certainly put on my face and I wanted to go out and do the same for someone else.

So, who can you make smile today?

Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
