It Takes a Village

“It takes a village,” is a fairly common adage, but it is one that can be hard to fully accept. One of those, easier said than done situations.

As someone who personally struggles with always wanting to do it all and feeling the pressure to be able to handle all the balls I’ve thrown in the air, I’ve had to learn that it does take a village.

We live in a culture that tends to value busyness and ability to juggle multiple items. “I don’t know how she does it all!” is a pretty high compliment to be paid.

But why? Why do we want to go about it alone, stretching ourselves too thin, and not putting out our very best work? Is it really just to prove we can get it done? That doesn’t seem right.

One of the best things you can do is to lean into the community around you. Your friends, your family, your coworkers. When they offer help, take them up on it! There is no shame in asking for help and then taking the help that is offered.

Whether it be moving, raising a child, or implementing EAM for the first time – it takes a village of people to get it done. It’s okay to rely on others and ask for support during times of high stress or being busy.

We can do a lot separately, but together, we’re unstoppable!

Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
