Are You Angry or Happy Ectoplasm?

I recently re-watched the movie Ghostbusters 2, a blast from the past from my childhood. While watching the movie I had an interesting realization. For those of you 30 years behind on 80’s classics, this is your *spoiler alert.*

My memory of the movie was that the pink slime, or ectoplasm, was evil and caused the takeover of New York City by ghosts. But this is not actually the case. The pink slime was only activated by the mood of the city. New Yorkers were irritable, angry, and not working together. The negative mood of the city is what actually caused the takeover.

The Ghostbusters knew that mood activated the pink slime and therefore knew the solution. Climb to the top of the Statue of Liberty and play Jackie Wilson’s, “Higher and Higher.”

Just kidding – what actually happened is that they got the entire city to unite and be happy on New Year’s Eve. This caused the pink slime to react in a positive manner and thus the Ghostbusters saved the day.

So, this brings me to my original question: are you angry or happy ectoplasm?

Will you help evil takeover with your negativity or will you save the day with positive thinking?

If your mood rubs off on others, wouldn’t you rather it be in a positive manner? I think we would all rather be around happy, helpful people.

So, next time you are frustrated, put on “Higher and Higher” and think of the pink slime right underneath you!
