The Real Housewives Isn't All Bad

I'll admit it. I have a problem. I am a Real Housewives junkie. It's trash TV but I love it. Every franchise, every episode, I've probably seen it and can give you an underlying back story to the drama because I've read the blogs and kept up with the social media spats.

While the vast majority of the plot lines are based around asinine feuds and even more ridiculous antics, once in a while, I do get something redeeming out of the show.

Recently, that something redeeming was a phrase uttered by Kyle Richards on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Kyle was lamenting some hardships she had been through but told the group, “Things are better when I say to myself, ‘I get to do this.’ It’s much better than thinking ‘I have to do this.’”

Think about that paradigm shift. Replacing I have to with I get to.

I get to wake up and go to work and make an impact on those around me. That’s much more positive than thinking to yourself, I have to go to work and deal with the people around me.

I get to exercise so I can feel better, not I have to exercise to lose weight.

I get to spend time with friends and family, not I have to spend time with them.

By swapping I have to with I get to, you can take control of your narrative and make it positive.

So, what have tos can you ditch and swap for some get tos? I don’t have to write an a-Minute, I get to write it and share with you!

While I’ll admit I don’t agree with the table flipping and other general nonsense captured on the Real Housewives, there is something to be said for the show.

Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
