Die with Your Boots On

I get much of my life philosophy from the greatest thinkers of all time: music writers for 1980s heavy metal music.
This is the music I grew up with and has always had an impact on me. One of the songs that inspires me significantly is “Die With Your Boots On” by Iron Maiden. The phrase “Die with your boots on,” goes back to the 19th century in America, referring to cowboys who died in gunfights or battles. It has been further traced to the 17th century phrase “Die in one’s shoes.”
In modern times it has grown to refer to dying while being active. It means never giving in to fear or infirmary. I think it is a great sentiment.
In the scheme of things, we have a very short time here on Earth. I believe it is important to do the things you love for every bit of that time possible. Work hard, play hard, spend time with family and friends. Get up every day and put on your boots and give it your all, even when times are tough or uncertain.
My personal goal is to die in my shoes, with my boots on, so to speak, giving this life all I can give it.
Life is short and uncertain, that is why I look to the great philosophers for inspiration.
