Don't Put a Period on It

Jon Gordon is one of my favorite authors – if you haven’t read his book, The Energy Bus, I highly recommend it!
And I don’t just recommend his books, I also recommend following him on social media for useful tips and insights right in your feeds. One such tip he recently shared: Don’t put a period where God put a comma. Keep writing your story. The best is yet to come!
This is so true! So often we’re inclined to put a period on a project, task, or relationship, when there could be so much more to explore if we don’t end where we’re at!
Imagine you’re working on a project and it’s not going exactly how you planned. You’ve got two options:
Option A: This project isn’t going anywhere. I’m done!
Option B: This project isn’t going anywhere, but I know it will get better with time and effort.
I think it’s pretty clear what outcome you’d get from Option A versus Option B! If we take the time to extend some more energy into the situation, the outcome can be tremendous.
When we’re tempted to put a period on something, I’d encourage you to take Jon’s advice and consider a comma instead! Keep writing the sentence and see where it takes you!
Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
