Listen to the Whispers

I was aimlessly scrolling on Twitter the other day when I saw this post from @thegoodquote:

Before you get sick your body will whisper about its fatigue. Before you break up, your lover will whisper her requests. If you don’t listen to the whispers, you’ll be forced to hear the screams.

Rarely on the Twitter machine does something stop me in my tracks and force me to sit with it for a few minutes reflecting on it. But this post did. After about 5 minutes of reading it, rereading it, and thinking about it, I concluded that this quote is brilliant because it’s absolutely true. But the beauty of it is you can expand the framework to any aspect of your life.

Before an employee quits, they will whisper about their unsatisfaction.

Before someone gets fired, the organization will whisper about their unsatisfaction (although I would argue they shouldn’t whisper at all, but scream so corrections can be made).

Before a client leaves, they will whisper their unhappiness.

Before the stock market crashes, it will whisper it’s uncertainty.

As consultants, leaders, spouses and human beings that want to make a difference, it is our duty to seek out these whispers and truly listen before we have to deal with the screams.

Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
