This Wasn’t the Plan

COVID-19 has thrown a lot of plans out of whack. Weddings are rescheduled, vacations cancelled, and trips postponed. We all have at least one event that has been affected by the current times we’re living in.
As a planner – both in personality and job title, COVID-19 was not something I was prepared for. When you plan events, you can account for a lot of things. Extra folks needing food, the occasional first-aid need, a storm headed for your outdoor event – check, check, check. I can plan and prepare for those things. A global pandemic that shuts basically everything down and cancels gatherings? That, I cannot plan for.
In the Advoco world, this cancellation of events meant that our annual user conference, Connect, could not go on the way it had for the previous seven years. The initial shock sent us reeling – how could we not have Connect? Do we cancel the event entirely? Reschedule? This wasn’t the plan!
We had to pivot, and make new plans, fast! We needed to create a virtual event that still brought our Connect community together, so we could learn and grow.
And something great came together – an event where we saw familiar faces and made new connections. An event that saw us deepening our Infor EAM knowledge, and growing our community.
I am so proud of the way the Connect community came together to support this event. It was a big change from the way the event is typically run, but one thing remained the same: the community surrounding Infor EAM is thriving and I’m lucky to be part of it!
In crazy times, it’s important to remember that sometimes things don’t go according to plan, they go so much better!
Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
