What are You Going to Do

Back when the global pandemic started impacting our everyday life, someone said to me, “People are going to remember how you treated them during this time.” It stuck with me, and I think about it regularly.

After all, we are living history.

I want to ask…how do you want others to remember you? And more importantly: how do you want to remember yourself?

Are you going to judge others for what they are (or are not) doing?

Are you going to help other people with the resources you have that they may not have right now?

Are you going to focus on the negative and complain all the time?

Are you going to find ways to enjoy the slowdown and be grateful for it?

Are you going to blame people for what they are doing (or are not) doing?

Are you going to learn something new?

Are you going to do things the way you’ve always done them?

Are you going to make an impact?

I’ve had my fair share of pizza and wine nights and days where I’ve skipped exercising in the past couple of months. But that’s not how I want to remember this time. I want to spend this time enjoying extra time with my loved ones that I didn’t get before. I want to keep myself and those around me safe. I want to respect how others want to deal with this crisis. I want to learn new skills, and I want to help other people.

I’m proud of the work that Advoco and our partners are doing in this time to make an impact in our community. We recently launched the Connect for Good Greenville initiative which works to bring smiles to those impacted by COVID-19. Not only do we get to help those who need it by providing meals, we also get to support our local restaurant industry. You can help make the impact go even further by supporting the program.

We have one shot at life, and I want to make an impact in mine. I hope we both decide to not wait “until this is over” to be who we want to be!

Until next time…we are Advoco, make every minute count.
